EOW Sagar arrests Bakswaha Mpl Officer, Sub-Engineer taking bribe

 

 

 

Sleuths of Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Sagar caught Bakswaha Municipal Officer and Sub-Engineer red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 30,000 for housing allotments under PM Awas Yojana, on Friday. The accused have been identified as Neha Sharma, Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of Bakswaha Municipal Council and Sub-Engineer Shobhit Mishra. According to EOW Sagar, the complainant, Hariom Pita Bohra Ahirwar, a resident of Bakswaha, lodged a written complaint to the EOW Sagar alleging that the CMO, Neha Sharma, demanded a bribe of Rs 45,000 for the approval of his residential and PM Awas applications. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the CMO had demanded Rs 30,000 as a bribe. Following this, a criminal case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused, and investigation was initiated.

 

Acting on the complainant’s information, the EOW Sagar team conducted a trap operation. During the operation, Neha Sharma collected the bribe amount from the complainant and handed it over to Sub-Engineer Shobhit Mishra. As soon as Mishra received the bribe, the EOW team apprehended him red-handed. The bribe money was verified chemically in the presence of witnesses and tested positive for dye marking. The complainant’s applications for residential allotment and PM Awas remain pending in the municipal council. Both accused have now been booked under criminal charges. The trap was conducted by EOW Sagar team comprised of DSP, Uma Naval Arya, Inspector Prashant Mishra, SI, Sonal Pandey, Head Constable Asif Khan, constables Ram Sajivan Yadav, Rakesh Ben, Afser Ali, Govind Awasthi, Ankit Mishra, Akash Dixit and constable Swati Dubey.
