CONTINUING its efforts to conserve the city’s historic water
bodies, the Jabalpur Municipal
Corporation (JMC) has
announced a comprehensive
plan to rejuvenate Surajtal Pond
in Garha. Municipal
Commissioner Ramprakash
Ahirwar on Monday conducted
an inspection of the pond premises and directed officials to
ensure visible improvement
within a month.
The Municipal Commissioner
issued clear instructions to
launch a special cleanliness campaign on a war footing from
Tuesday.
He said Surajtal Pond
should be cleaned and developed on the same lines as Sita
Sarovar Pond.
Ahirwar also informed that
sanitation workers involved in
cleaning city ponds will be honoured with certificates of appreciation on January 26, in recognition of their contribution.
During the inspection, officials of the Health Department
and Public Works Department
were directed to prioritise
removal of water hyacinth, weeds
and accumulated waste from
inside the pond, along with thorough cleaning of the embankments.
The Municipal
Commissioner instructed that
all available municipal resources
be deployed to complete the work
within the stipulated time.
Ahirwar also interacted directly with local residents living
around the pond and urged them
to cooperate with the cleanliness
drive. He appealed the citizens
to support the Municipal
Corporation’s efforts in maintaining cleanliness and protecting the pond in the long term.
During the visit, Ahirwar also
spoke to children playing in the pond area. Ahirwar interacted with them and conducted
discussed on studies and
sports activities.
Superintending Engineer
Kamlesh Shrivastava, Deputy
Engineer Virendra Pandey,
Assistant Health Officer Arjun
Yadav and other officials were
present on the occasion.
