THE National Medical
Commission (NMC) has
approved 15 additional seats of
postgraduate at clinical branches of two private medical colleges across Chhattisgarh, one at
Raipur and another in
Bhilainagar. With the addition of
these 15 seats, the number of
postgraduate (PG) medical seats
at medical colleges in
Chhattisgarh has now increased
to more than 600.
In first week of 2026, NMC,
regulatory body of medical education and research, has
approved 529 PG medical seats
in 30 medical colleges of the
country including 15 seats in two
private medical colleges of State.
Before the counselling of NEETPG 2025, NMC had approved over
4,000 PG seats at various clinical and non-clinical branches in
October 2025. That time,
Chhattisgarh Medical Education
has also witnessed 85 new PG
seats, 18 in CIMS Bilaspur
and remaining in three private medical colleges of the state,
maximum 44 in private medical college of Bhilainagar, 18
in one private medical college of capital and 5 in other
medical college of Raipur.
With the expansion of postgraduate medical seats, NEET-PG qualifiers will not require
to take admission at pg medical courses in medical colleges of other states. But the problem is that, this year NMC
had approved maximum pg medical seats in private medical colleges and many of poor as well as rural students did
not much benefit from these additional seats of medical
science in postgraduate level.
