Staff Reporter:
AS THE sky cleared completely
on Tuesday, temperatures in
Sanskardhani continued to fall
sharply, bringing back intense
cold conditions across the city.
Over the past two days, the minimum temperature has dropped
by nearly four degrees, signalling
the return of a strong cold spell.
After three days of dense fog
and cloud cover, Tuesday morning saw clear skies and bright
sunshine.
However, instead of
providing warmth, the change in
weather led to a further dip in
night temperatures. The city
recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius, marking a noticeable fall and making
early mornings and nights
increasingly chilly.
With the departure of fog and
clouds, cold conditions have
once again tightened their grip.
Northerly winds have begun
affecting the eastern parts of
Madhya Pradesh, including
Jabalpur and intensifying the
chill.
Residents were seen stepping out in heavy woollens, particularly during morning and
evening hours, as the cold
became more biting.
Earlier, the city had been under
the influence of a western disturbance, which caused persistent cloud cover and fog for three
days, disrupting normal life. The
severe cold during that period
had affected children, elderly and
the ailing, forcing the district
administration to declare a twoday holiday, i.e.
on January 5 and
6, for schools.
Spokesman of Weather
Department informed that the
clearing of skies is likely to lead
to a further drop in minimum
temperatures in the coming days.
Cold northerly winds are expected to continue, creating cold
wave-like conditions in the
region.
The Weather Department
has warned that night temperatures may fall further as winter
tightens its hold.
The Department has reiterated its advisory, urging people,
especially children, senior citizens and those with health issues
to take precautions against the
cold as harsh winter phase sets
in across the region.
