Arya hits 117 as Vid crush Goa

 

ARYA Pongde made a brilliant 117 to lead Vidarbha to a 137-run win over Goa in their group league match of the U-15 Women’s One-Day Trophy in Vizianagaram on Thursday. Openers Arya and Maahum Talib (77) made Goa pay for their decision to bowl first by adding a mammoth 184 runs in 132 balls for the first wicket. Arya faced 76 balls and hit 18 boundaries and three sixes in her power-packed innings, while Maahum made run-a-ball 77 with nine boundaries and a six to help Vidarbha pile up 267-4 in their 35 overs. Goa’s chase fizzled out with the loss of two early wickets. In spite of a fighting 68 by Joya Meer, Goa could muster only 130-4 in 35 overs.
