THE Jabalpur Sangharsh Samiti has
expressed serious concern over
alleged unplanned development
works and their slow pace across the
city. Senior office bearers of the Samiti
stated that the issues are causing widespread inconvenience to residents
and adversely affecting local businesses.
During a meeting on Thursday,
Samiti Convener Himanshu Khare
said several infrastructure works are
being carried out within the municipal limits without proper planning
and their snail pace execution has
made daily life difficult for the public.
He cited the ongoing construction
work under the AMRUT scheme on
Rampur to Gwarighat road as a prime
example, where slow progress has left
commuters and traders struggling.
Khare said infrastructure development is essential, but every project
must have a fixed timeline and faster
execution to minimise public inconvenience and improve traffic flow.
Members Baldeep Meni, Dr I K
Khanna and Deepak Sethi suggested
that details of the concerned department officials and executing agency,
along with contact numbers should
be prominently displayed at every
construction site. Other members
demanded a complete ban on commercial activities on NMT tracks, stating that these corridors are meant for
pedestrians.
On traffic management, members
said the city is under increasing pressure due to rising traffic volumes. The
Samiti members said they will soon
launch a public awareness campaign
to highlight negligence in development
works affecting citizens.
