Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis claimed that Nagpur is a city of models where many innovative pilot projects were initiated here first and then adopted by the country.
Fadnavis made this statement during a programme named ‘Tarri... Poha With Devabhau’ conducted by the city unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Swagat Lawn, Palm Road, Civil Lines, on Thursday.
Talking about various projects in Nagpur, Fadnavis said, “Nagpur is generating electricity with the help of sewage water and also earning money from that project. 24x7 water supply in city is a another model underway in the city and which reduced the water shortage here. Web of cement roads, many flyovers and specially double-decker flyover is a model first implemented in Nagpur and then, adopted in other cities of the country.”
Nagpur Municipal Corporation will be inaugurating a new model in city in which it will process garbage to generate biogas, which will be used in city buses as fuel in coming days.
The project will be inaugurated in 2-3 months, said Fadnavis.
While talking about New Nagpur project, Fadnavis said, “There is a need of planned development outside the city limits of Nagpur. For better expansion of the city, the Government is planning to develop New Nagpur and an outer ring road for better connectivity. For these New Nagpur and outer ring road projects, Government is spending Rs 11,000 crore.”
Government is planning to develop a new business district on 700 ha land close to Samruddhi Mahamarg, which will be connected with New Nagpur project and will create 5 lakh jobs. For this, we are already getting response from some global developers, said the Chief Minister.
On asking him the reason behind the rapid development of Nagpur city, Fadnavis said, “Nagpur sacrificed a lot in formation of united Maharashtra.
It was the capital of CP & Berar and the promises were not fulfilled till date. Therefore, there is a huge backlog in the form of development of Nagpur city. When me or Nitin Gadkari got chance to serve, we always tried to overcome the backlog of the city and what you are witnessing here today was long overdue.”
Talking about development of Mumbai, Fadnavis said, “If we talk about development of Mumbai, the first name that comes to mind is of Nitin Gadkari who constructed 55 flyovers and Bandra-Worli Sea Link in the capital. And what ever 360 degree development took place in Mumbai is done by me and Eknath Shinde under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
Fadnavis also advised upcoming corporators to be polite and be patient as it is the core of politics. “You are people’s representative. You have to be polite and patient while dealing with people.”
The programme was moderated by actors Spruha Joshi and Bharat Ganeshpure. The event was attended by local MLAs, senior BJP leaders and citizens.
