Even as wars are raging across continents, the thoughts of Tataghat Gautam Buddha are still relevant for the world, as ultimately every other thing depends on peace which does not have any option. This was stated by Bhadant Dr T Dhamma Ratan, an international Buddhism preacher, at the main programme of 70th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din celebration held at Deekshabhoomi here on Tuesday. Earlier the organisers said Rs 991 crore development project at Deekshaboomi has been prepared and urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to sanction the same. The project is slated to be implemented in four stages. Bhadant Suruei Sasai, President, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak Samiti presided at the programme.

Buddhist monk from Myanmar Vanna Siri Mahathero was the chief guest. Speaking further Bhadant Ratan said that Buddhist philosophy is now no longer limited to Asia, its following is increasing across internationally. Adv Shailesh Narnaware provided details of public interest petition filed in Bombay High Court. He said Maharashtra Government should not delay the process of sanctioning the funds for the project. The development of Deekshabhoomi is of prime importance so that lakhs of devotees who visit it annually do not face inconvenience. Bhante Karunakaran from Delhi demanded that Mahabodhi should be handed over to Buddhist and batted for independent personal laws for the Buddhist community. This would help in buttressing the demand of Buddhist for Mahabodhi Vihar.
