Crime Branch team nabs drug supplier, 5 others

The Crime Branch has seized Mephedrone (MD) drug worth Rs 1.40 crore from a flat in Narendra Nagar in Nagpur city. Five persons were arrested in the raid at the flat, while notorious drug supplier Vishal alias Phalli Gupta (24) was later traced and caught in Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu. Total value of the seized drugs, vehicles, cash and other items is Rs 1.54 crore. The operation was conducted by Unit 5 of the Crime Branch led by Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Golhe under the guidance of DCP Detection Deepak Agrawal and ACP Crime Vaibhav Jadhav within the limits of Beltarodi Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, the team raided a flat on the third floor of Vijaya Apartments, beside a Bharat Petroleum pump on Ring Road, between Friday night and Saturday morning. Police recovered 1,405 grams of suspected MD powder worth Rs 1.40 crore.

They also seized six mobile phones, a Hyundai Verna car, four two-wheelers, cash of Rs 3.44 lakh, an electronic weighing scale and a bag. Total value of the seized property is Rs 1,54,50,700. The arrested accused, accomplices of Phalli, have been identified as Aniket alias Annu Sanjay Bihare (19), Shubham alias Doraemon Dilip Narwariya (31), Krishna Sunil Verma (19), Tufansingh Balusingh Sisodiya (38) and Rahul Ramkumar Gond (32). Bihare was also wanted in a case registered under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). According to police, the drug was brought from Rajasthan for sale in Nagpur. The accused allegedly used WhatsApp and Instagram calls to communicate and avoid being tracked by investigators. Police are probing their suspected links with other drug suppliers and their previous cases. Phalli, who was wanted in many drug cases, was subsequently arrested in Rameshwaram. Police are also searching for another wanted accused, Bhupendra Singh, from Rajasthan who supplied the drug. Police Head Constable Chandrashekhar Jaychand Gautam of Crime Branch Unit 5 lodged the complaint. Beltarodi Police are taking action under Sections 8(c), 22(b) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Kingpin Phalli arrested in Rameshwaram

Drug supplier Vishal alias Phalli Gupta (24) was arrested by the Crime Branch in Rameshwaram. He was wanted in several criminal cases, including a recent drug trafficking case and firing at Congress corporator Shubham Motghare’s residence. Police received information that Phalli had visited Koradi for darshan. The Crime Branch tracked his movements and followed his trail to Rameshwaram, where a team arrested him. His girlfriend Saheli Pandhram, also a resident of Shravan Nagar, who is also an accused in a criminal case, was arrested from the same place. Police obtained his remand and are bringing him to Nagpur for further investigation. Phalli built substantial wealth through illegal activities, particularly drug trafficking. In July 2026, two men arrested with 151 grams of suspected mephedrone identified him as their supplier. He was also wanted in connection with the August 26 firing at Motghare’s residence in Shravan Nagar. Investigators suspected that the attack was planned as revenge over a suspected tip-off to police in a drug case. Seven accused were arrested in that case, and MCOCA was invoked against them. In October 2024, Phalli was arrested in a robbery investigation involving threats and weapons. He has also been linked to other serious criminal cases.
