(M&M) officially took possession of an 800-acre land parcel at the Additional Butibori Industrial Area in Nagpur on Monday. The land was handed over by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) after the company deposited over Rs 706 crore for the initial phase. The official handover was conducted by MIDC Nagpur division officers including Manohar Pote, Regional Officer, MIDC; and Rajesh Jhanjal – Chief Engineer, MIDC. Also present on the occasion was Kapil Chandrayan from the Association for Industries Development (AID). The Nagpur mega-project involves an investment of over Rs 15,000 crore by Mahindra & Mahindra and is set to generate more than 20,000 direct jobs.

MIDC has proposed allocating a total of 1,500 acres for this facility. With the initial 800-acre land handed over, possession of the remaining 700 acres is scheduled to take place shortly. Once fully operational, this site will become Mahindra’s largest integrated manufacturing facility in India. The unit will produce over 7,00,000 commercial vehicles annually (including over 5 lakh vehicles and 1 lakh tractors across multiple powertrains and future technologies). To support this mega plant, a 150-acre dedicated supplier park is being established in Sambhajinagar.

This hub will supply components to the new Nagpur plant as well as existing facilities in Chakan and Nashik. Beyond manufacturing infrastructure, Mahindra is actively building the human capital needed for the project. The company plans to establish a specialized skilling center in Nagpur to train local talent in core technical areas such as mechanical operations, welding, and painting. Experienced associates from existing plants will also participate in building and mentoring the new workforce over the next two to three years.
