Prof Sachin Kalbande claims 8,400 duplicate entries

The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court has allowed an application filed by Prof Sachin Shankarrao Kalbande in a case involving alleged irregularities in the voter list for the Nagpur Division Graduate Constituency. Justices Urmila Joshi-Phalke and Raj Wakode directed the Chief Election Commissioner, the State Election Commission, Nagpur Divisional Commissioner and other respondents to file affidavits by October 30. Prof Kalbande has claimed that 98,782 voter registration applications were pending in the Nagpur Division when the registration deadline ended. He has also alleged that the list contains 8,400 duplicate entries.

He further claimed that Diploma and D Pharm holders, who are not eligible for this constituency, have been included in the list. The case was transferred back to the Nagpur Bench after a hearing before the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court. During the hearing, the Government counsel stated that the final electoral roll was published in December 2025. Prof Kalbande has questioned conflicting statements and sought cancellation of the election. The High Court has now directed the authorities concerned to submit their replies. Advocate Neerja Chaube represented the Election Commission.
