Sacked employee sets garage ablaze 20 two-wheelers gutted; owner suffers Rs 7 lakh loss

Angry over sacking, a former employee set a garage on fire in Kapil Nagar police staiton area. Around 20 two-wheelers were totally damaged in the fire which caused losses of over Rs 7 lakh. The fire broke out at around 3 am on Friday at Baba Deep Nagar in Bank Colony, said police.
 
The garage, Divesh Honda Service, is owned by Satish Yadav (42), a resident of Baba Deep Nagar. His former employee, Raju Mahendrakar, is suspected of starting the fire after being dismissed about two months ago. According to the information, Yadav had terminated Raju's employment because of his alcohol addiction. Police suspect that the former employee held a grudge against his employer and set the garage on fire. The flames quickly spread through the garage and engulfed around 20 two-wheelers parked inside. All the vehicles were reportedly reduced to ashes. The garage suffered damage estimated at around Rs 5 lakh. The fire also affected a neighbouring clinic owned by Vikas Giri. The intense heat and flames caused damage estimated at approximately Rs 2 lakh. The fire brigade rushed to spot and brought the blaze under control. Kapilnagar police reached the scene and began an investigation. 
 
CCTV camera captures suspicious movements 
 
During the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from cameras installed at the garage. The footage reportedly showed a person behaving suspiciously inside the premises. Based on the footage and other technical evidence, police have launched a search for the accused. A case has been registered against an unidentified accused. Investigators are also examining the exact cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to the incident.
