CHIEFMinister Dr Mohan Yadav said that the State Government has extended promotion benefits to 3,357 employees associated with the agriculture sector. He was speaking in a programme at Ravindra Bhavan on Monday organised to felicitate him following the promotions. Yadav said that agriculture was central to Madhya Pradesh’s economic development and credited department officials and employees with helping the state strengthen its position as a major food-producing state. He said that Government schemes should reach farmers directly rather than remain confined to official files. Of the 3,357 employees promoted, 1,725 are from the Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Department, 1,439 from the State Agricultural Marketing Board, 149 from Agricultural Engineering, 36 from Seed Certification and eight from the Seed Corporation. Forty-four youths were also given compassionate appointment letters.

Yadav said that Departmental Promotion Committees would be held annually and vacancies created through promotions would be filled through recruitment. More than 1,500 posts in the Mandi Board are expected to be filled through fresh recruitment in 2026, including posts of Mandi Inspectors, SubEngineers, Secretaries and Data Entry Operators. The Chief Minister said that the State had so far provided employment against more than 85,000 government posts and had set a target of filling more than one lakh additional government posts next year. He also said pending cases of compassionate appointments would be addressed. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh procured 104 lakh metric tonnes of wheat from nearly 14 lakh farmers this year, placing the state first nationally in wheat procurement, according to the figures cited at the programme. Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Minister Edal Singh Kansana said the department’s officers and employees should ensure that welfare schemes reach farmers on the ground. Secretary Nishant Warwade said the promotions had cleared a backlog that had remained pending for more than a decade.
