3-day Abhyudaya Seva Pradarshan concludes
The 3rd edition of Abhyudaya Seva Pradarshan concluded at Chitnavis Centre, Civil Lines, on Sunday. The one-of-its-kind event drew an enthusiastic crowd of social workers, entrepreneurs, students, and citizens.
During the three-day exhibition, over 40 Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) showcased their works. Unlike typical commercial events, the exhibition organised by Gramayan Pratishthan in association with the Sir Gangadharrao Chitnavis Memorial Medical Research Trust, had nothing to sell. Instead, the event served as a dedicated platform for the NGOs to showcase their selfless social initiatives.

For tribal women and adolescent girls, menstruation can mean isolation in a ‘Kurmaghar’, a hut away from home. Abhinav Bahuuddeshiya Kala Manch, Gadchiroli, is trying to replace that exclusion with dignity, comfort and support.
Through its Nari Shakti Niketan (NSN) Kurmaghar Renovation Project at Pipartola in Armori taluka, the organisation, with support from Making The Difference Charitable Trust, Thane, has created a facility where women and girls can stay during their menstrual periods.
With beds and skill training, the Niketan offers more than shelter.
“Imagine how lowly and isolated these tribal girls and women must feel when they are kept in a Kurmaghar. We wanted to change that and provide an equipped space with good beds and facilities,” said Secretary Akil Sheikh while speaking to ‘The Hitavada’.
Around 45-50 women and adolescent girls live at the Niketan. Its education programme benefits nearly 1,250 students, while its anti-addiction campaign has reached 7,500-8,000 students.
