BHOPAL’S Government schools
have entered a high-pressure
academic sprint, with the
Directorate of Public Instruction,
Bhopal, proposing half-yearly
examinations from next month
and ordering 60% syllabus completion before the exams begin.
According to the latest directive from the Lok Shikshan
Sanchalnalaya, Class 11 and 12
half-yearly exams will start from
November 18, while Class 9 and
10 exams will begin from
November 21. The examinations
will be held in a single shift from
10 am to 1 pm across all
Government and Governmentrecognised schools in Bhopal district. Students have been instructed to reach centres by 9:30 am. In
a new update issued for the current session, the revised
subject-wise timetable, which is
being implemented as a model
for Bhopal division as well.
The Directorate has clarified
that exams will be held even if a
public or local holiday is declared,
and practical exams for remaining subjects will be conducted at
the school level between
November 21 and 30. After each
exam, schools must use the
remaining periods to teach the
next day’s subject. For Bhopal
schools, the effective window is
only 40-45 teaching days due to
Dussehra holidays (Oct 19-21),
Diwali holidays (Nov 6-11) and
winter break (Dec 31-Jan 4).
Officials admitted that in many
city schools only 30-40% of the
course is complete, with textbook
distribution still pending in some
clusters. Acting on quarterly results,
Bhopal DEO office has directed
schools to identify weak students
and run extra classes, particularly
for Mathematics, Science and
English. Meanwhile, the Rajya
Shiksha Kendra has set a hard deadline of January 31, 2027 to finish
the entire 2026-27 syllabus, as
teachers will be deployed for Census
Phase-II duty from February 1 to
the first week of March. Schools have
been asked to restructure timetables to meet the target without
affecting academic quality
