Speeding vehicle crushes 18-month-old girl dead in front of house in Kharbi

In a heartbreaking incident, an 18-month-old toddler lost her life after being run over by a speeding goods vehicle while playing in front of her house in the Kharbi area on Friday afternoon around 1 pm at Vaishnavi Layout, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Wathoda police station. The deceased child has been identified as Priyanshi Vishnu Devpach. According to police, Priyanshi was playing outside her house when a goods vehicle (MH-49/BZ-6529) passed through the narrow residential lane and crushed her. A police officer from Wathoda police station said, “The child was playing in front of her house when the goods vehicle came at a fast speed. The driver failed to notice the toddler on the road which led to the accident.”
 
Family members immediately rushed the injured child to Mayo Hospital for emergency treatment. However, doctors examined her and declared her brought dead. The incident plunged the family into deep grief and shocked local residents. Senior police officials visited the spot soon after receiving information and carried out a spot panchnama. “We have registered a case of causing death by negligence against the driver of the goods vehicle,” a police official said. “The accused driver, Vishnu Savanlal Gautam (51) and a resident of Dhavgavali Bababagar area in Kharbi, has been identified.” The police have seized the vehicle involved in the accident and are questioning the driver. Further investigation is underway.
