HOSTS and defending champions AG Maharashtra blanked AG Rajasthan 6-0, while AG Gujarat and AG Madhya Pradesh match was tied 3-3, on Day One of the Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD) West Zone Football Tournament that got underway on Monday.
The event is being conducted by Office of The Accountant General (Audit-II), Maharashtra, Nagpur at South East Central Railway Stadium, Motibagh.
In the inaugural match, AG Maharashtra’s Bilal Sheikh flicked the ball in the goal via a header on a pass from Akbar Siddique in the second minute to put the hosts in the lead.
Siddique made it 2-0 in the 5th minute and added one more in the 24th minute. In the 27th minute, Bilal scored through a wonderful 20 yards kick.
Half time score read 4-0. Anirban Pal (60th) and Zahid Akhtar (67th) scored one each to complete the rout. Siddique was named Player of the Match.
In the second match, Abhishek Rattu scored twice for Madhya Pradesh while Saurabh Rawat added one as the team led 3-1 at one time against Gujarat. Shashank Mamgain also netted twice and Mandeep Singh fired in the equaliser late in the match.
Rattu was declared Player of the Match.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Deepak Kumar Gupta, IRPS, Divisional Railway Manager, SEC Railway. Dattaprasad Shirsat, IAAS, Accountant General (Audit), Nagpur wished all the teams best of luck.
