Shahdol continued to be the coldest district in the State on Wednesday, with Kalyanpur recording a minimum temperature of 4.3°C. Meanwhile, most other parts of Madhya Pradesh experienced a slight rise in temperatures over the past 24 hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhopal, maximum temperatures remained largely unchanged across the State, although readings in districts of Bhopal, Narmadapuram, Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa and Sagar divisions were above normal by 1.8°C to 2.6°C. Minimum temperatures rose appreciably in Shahdol division by 2.6°C, while slight or no significant changes were recorded in the remaining districts. Other districts saw minimum temperatures above normal by 1.7°C to 2.1°C in Indore, Narmadapuram, Ujjain, and Sagar divisions, and by 1.6°C in Chambal division. Remaining districts reported temperatures close to normal.
Among cities, the highest minimum temperature was recorded at Kannod (Dewas) at 18.7°C, while Narmadapuram reported the highest maximum of 33.0°C. Other notable temperatures included Pachmarhi at 7.4°C (minimum) and 25.2°C (maximum), Morena at 26.4°C (maximum), and Khandwa at 32.1°C (maximum).
The State continued to remain dry, with no rainfall reported anywhere. Bhopal recorded a maximum of 30.4°C and a minimum of 13.6°C, with morning humidity at 80%.
The prevailing weather is influenced by a western disturbance that is currently running as a trough in the middle and upper tropospheric westerlies over northern India, roughly along longitude 77°E and north of latitude 30°N. Additionally, the subtropical westerly jet stream is active over Northeast India with
core winds of around 241 kmph at 12.6 km above mean sea level. These synoptic conditions have led to dry skies and slightly warmer daytime temperatures across most parts of Madhya Pradesh. Two fresh Western Disturbances are expected to affect the Western Himalayan region on February 13 and 16, but they are unlikely to directly impact Madhya Pradesh. For Thursday, Bhopal and nearby areas are likely to experience mainly clear skies with morning haze. Light winds of 8-10 kmph are expected, with the maximum temperature around 30°C and minimum near 13°C. The dry weather is expected to continue across the state for the next few days. The Meteorological Centre has advised farmers to keep a close watch on crops for fungal infections and pest attacks, harvest mature crops during clear weather, and ensure sufficient dry feed and clean drinking water for livestock.
