Leader of Opposition in the Raipur Municipal Corporation Akash Tiwari has met Collector Dr Gaurav Singh, demanding the release of a demarcation report related to alleged illegal encroachment on government land along the Raja Ram drain on VIP Road in Raipur.
According to information shared by Akash Tiwari, a complaint regarding alleged encroachment of nearly one acre of government land and an adjoining government drain was submitted to the RMC Commissioner Vishwadeep on December 30, 2025. The complaint was based on inputs received from local residents regarding alleged activities of land mafias near the drain passing through Amlidih and the nearby government pond.
Following the complaint, the Raipur Municipal Corporation reportedly directed the SDM to carry out demarcation of the government land and drain.
However, more than one month later, the demarcation report has not been made public, leading to concerns and political criticism.
Akash Tiwari said that after reading media reports about action being taken against the encroachment, he personally visited the site and found that only a small portion of a wall had been demolished. He alleged that the direction and structure of the drain remain unchanged and that the action taken was merely symbolic.
He has now submitted a fresh demand to the district administration seeking immediate publication of the demarcation report. He questioned the delay in filing FIRs against alleged land mafia and raised concerns over possible administrative inaction. He also questioned whether valuable government land was being encroached upon in collusion with certain officials.
He said that if strict action is not taken against the alleged encroachment on government land and the drain, protests will be intensified both on the streets and inside legislative forums. sOfficials have not yet issued a detailed public statement regarding the allegations or the status of the demarcation report.
