The 2026 Board examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education commenced on Tuesday, with over 45,000 students appearing for the Class 10 Mathematics paper (Basic and Standard) across State and around 6,000 students appearing from Durg district.
The exams are being held at over 500 centres across State and in Durg district the examinations were conducted in 15 centres in a single shift from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. On the first day, students were seen arriving early at examination centres, carrying admit cards and stationery, amid visible nervousness and excitement.
Class 10 board exams began with Mathematics (Basic) and Mathematics (Standard) papers, and on the first day of the board examination students came to the centers with a mix of anxiety and anticipation. Post-exam, many reported that questions were straightforward and NCERT-based but time-consuming overall.
A few found the Basic paper tougher and lengthier than the standard one, owing to extensive calculations. Most students appeared relieved and optimistic about high scores.
According to CBSE District Coordinator and Principal SSV Hudco, Amitabh Das around 6,000 students are registered for Class 10 in the district and
being held in 15 centres in thedistrict. He said that the first paper was Mathematics (Basic and Standard) on Tuesday that went on smoothly and no complaint of unfair means or any technical problems has been reported during the exam from any centre. In the education hub of Bhilai, parents accompanied their wards to board exam centres as usual this morning, with students allotted venues different from their schools—a practice followed for several years. Outside the gates, huge crowds of anxious parents gathered before papers began and lingered after exams ended, as students emerged. This led to severe traffic jams on roads near most centres, creating chaos during peak entry and exit times. It may be noted that the Board has directed students to reach their centres well before time, noting that entry closes at 10 am.
No candidate will be allowed to enter after the reporting deadline. Students must carry a valid admit card on all exam days, failing which they may be marked absent in the concerned subject. The Class 10 examinations are scheduled to conclude on 10 March, while Class 12 exams will continue until 10 April.
