CHIEF Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to developing tourist destinations and strengthening visitor amenities during his visit to Koriya district on Tuesday. The Chief Minister inaugurated a newly- constructed open theatre at the popular tourist spot Jhumka Reservoir in Baikunthpur. The facility has been developed by the Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the Chhattisgarh Government. During his visit, Sai enjoyed a boating excursion on the serene waters of the reservoir and reviewed the tourism infrastructure created in the area. He took a ‘shikara’ ride, appreciating the tranquil atmosphere marked by lush greenery, calm waters and blooming lotuses. The site is fast emerging as a favoured picnic and leisure destination in North Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister sought detailed information from officials regarding boating services, water sports activities and other tourism-related initiatives being promoted at the reservoir. Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements, he emphasised the need to further enhance facilities to attract more visitors.
 
Sai also inaugurated the newly- built open theatre, constructed at a cost of approximately Rs 27 lakh. With a seating capacity of 500 spectators, the theatre is expected to serve as a vibrant venue for cultural programmes, community gatherings and public events in the region. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the Jhumka Reservoir is not only an identity of Koriya district but also a symbol of the vast tourism potential of Chhattisgarh. He noted that the State Government is consistently working towards the development, beautification and expansion of modern amenities at key tourist destinations, with the aim of positioning Chhattisgarh among the leading tourism states in the country. He directed officials to ensure special focus on tourist safety, cleanliness and convenience. Shri Sai also stressed the importance of linking local youth with tourism-related activities to create employment opportunities and strengthen the rural economy.
 
Among those present on the occasion were Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, MLA Bhaiyalal Rajwade, Divisional Commissioner Narendra Dugga, IG Deepak Jha, Collector Chandan Tripathi and Superintendent of Police Ravi Kumar Kurre, along with other public representatives, officials and distinguished citizens.
