The effect of winter has begun to fade across the State, including Jabalpur in the third week of February. Day temperatures are rising due to bright sunshine, though mild cold conditions continue during the early morning and late night hours. Spokesman of Weather Department informed that the impact of a western disturbance may bring a change in weather from Wednesday. Light rain, winds and lightning are likely in few districts, which may lead to a temporary drop in temperatures. However, the effect of western disturbance is not expected to be significant in Jabalpur. On Wednesday and Thursday parts of Gwalior, Chambal and Sagar divisions may witness cloud cover and light rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Day temperatures may fall by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius during this period. On Tuesday, minimum temperature of 13.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city, while the maximum temperature touched 29.9 degree. Spokesman further informed that the western disturbance is currently active as a cyclonic circulation over northwest Afghanistan and adjoining regions at heights between 3.1 km and 7.6 km above mean sea level. In addition, strong western jet stream winds are blowing at a speed of about 240 km per hour at an altitude of 12.6 km over northeast India. Under its influence, districts including Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh and Chhatarpur may experience cloud movement and light rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
