A Class 12 student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in the Wadi area on Monday evening. The deceased has been identified as Nikita Bansod (18), a resident of Khadgaon Road, Wadi. According to police, Nikita had appeared for her Class 12 physics examination earlier in the day. She returned home around 3.30 pm after the exam. At that time, no other family members were present at home. A police officer from Wadi Police Station said, “As per the preliminary information, the girl came home after her physics paper.

 

There was no one else in the house for several hours.” Later in the evening, around 7 pm, Nikita’s brother Aditya returned home. He found her behaving normally. “The brother told us that he spoke to Nikita for some time and did not notice anything unusual,” the officer added. After a brief conversation, Aditya went out again to bring their mother home. When they returned after some time, they knocked on the door of Nikita’s room, but there was no response. Suspecting something was wrong, they forced open the door. Inside the room, Nikita was found hanging from the window grill with the help of a rope. The shocked family members immediately brought her down and rushed her to the Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. However, doctors examined her and declared her dead on arrival. “She was brought to the hospital in an unconscious condition, but doctors declared her dead after examination,” the police said. Wadi Police have registered a case of accidental death and started further inquiry.
