NAGPUR’S Jayendra Dhole and Pinaki Mukherjee won titles in the Maharashtra Veterans (Masters) State Badminton Championship that concluded at Cricket Club of India and Bombay Gymkhana, Mumbai recently.
Top seed Dhole won men’s singles title in 45+ age group getting better of Sachin Sarda 21-17, 21-14.
Mukherjee combined with Ajita Ravindran to pip top seeded Nagpur duo of Homiyar Dumasia and Anjali Kale in three games 19-21, 21-19, 8-21 in mixed doubles 50+ final.
In WD40+, city’s top seeded pair of Manisha Bhawatkar and Manjiri Dhoke were stunned by second seeds Pooja Jhalani and Ramya Venkat 21-13, 19-21,
19-21.
In MD35+, Aditya Swamy and Amit Khadgi beat Nikhil Mansukhani and Piyush Makhe (of Nagpur) 21-16, 21-15.
All the players were congratulated by Arun Lakhani (President, MBA), Kundatai Vijaykar (President, Nagpur District Badminton Association), Mangesh Kashikar (Sr Vice-President, MBA & Secretary, NDBA), along with Anand Sancheti, Amit Bajaj, Shriram Purohit, Bhavana Agrey, Anant Apte, Madhavi Kashikar Hedaoo, Gurdeep Singh Arora, Neha Gosavi, Nikhil Rokde, Ashwin Harkare, Bhavesh Deshmukh and Sneha Faizpurkar.
