Secret raid in Gadge Nagar linked to previous 198 kg Karanja Lad haul

In a high-stakes operation on Sunday afternoon, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) struck a major blow against the narcotics trade in Amravati city. During a secret raid at a flat within the Gadge Nagar Police Station jurisdiction, officials seized approximately 5 kg of Mephedrone (MD) worth crores of rupees. The operation is reportedly linked to a massive drug haul about a month ago in Karanja Lad, where the DRI had seized 198 kg of MD. Leads from that investigation pointed towards a distribution network in Amravati, prompting this latest undercovering mission. Conducted with extreme secrecy, even the local Gadge Nagar police were kept in the dark until the operation was completed. Total 5 kg of high-quality Mephedrone (MD) was recovered from a residential flat. The DRI team has moved the seized contraband and the detained suspect to GST Bhavan in Navsari.

A forensic van has been deployed at the site to analyse evidence, and the suspect is undergoing intense interrogation. As of now, the gates of GST Bhavan remain closed to the public and the media. Sources indicate that once the preliminary inquiry is concluded, a formal First Information Report (FIR) will be lodged at the Gadge Nagar Police Station. This crackdown has sent shockwaves through the city, and authorities believe it could lead to the unmasking of a larger inter-district drug syndicate operating across Maharashtra.
