Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the three-day Sirpur Mahotsav at Sirpur in Mahasamund district on Sunday. The Chief Minister inaugurated the Sirpur Mahotsav by lighting the ceremonial lamp and garlanding the portrait of Goddess Saraswati.
Addressing the programme, Chief Minister Sai, while wishing the people of the district on Maghi Purnima, said that with the blessings of Shri Gandeshwar Mahadev situated on the banks of Mahanadi, this area is moving towards continuous development.
He said that Sirpur represents the cultural identity of not only Chhattisgarh but the entire country. The Chief Minister informed that today the district has been gifted development works worth approximately Rs 200 crore.
He said that the State Government is committed to developing Sirpur as an international tourist centre.
Modern roads, lighting, parking, tourist convenience centre and international level tourist corridor will be developed. He said that special efforts are being made to preserve the historical and archaeological heritage of Sirpur, so that the coming
generations can also become familiar with this glorious
heritage.
Chief Minister Sai welcomed Buddhist thinkers from Malaysia, Korea, and Japan, who are participating in the event. He said that Sanatan, Buddhist, and Jain cultures flourished in Sirpur, and it is a wonderful confluence of cultures.
Considering the potential for tourism development in Sirpur, the State government is making serious efforts to include it in the World Heritage list. Sirpur will be renowned across the country and the world.
The Chief Minister said that the approval for Sirpur Barrage will also be given soon for the development of the region.
Work is progressing rapidly on a plan to bring water from the Siksar Reservoir to the Kodar Reservoir. This will ensure continuous water supply to the farmers of the area, he added.
Food Minister and Mahasamund district in-charge Minister Dayaldas Baghel also addressed the programme.
