Government Railway Police (GRP), Bhopal, has arrested a thief involved in multiple cases of train and tech-pass theft. Authorities recovered stolen gold and jewellery valued at nearly Rs 7 lakh from the accused.
According to police, the accused, identified as Pranjal Dixit from Lucknow (UP), targeted train passengers in Bhopal region after suffering financial losses in online gambling and gaming. His loot included gold chains, mangalsutras, ladies’ rings and other ornaments.
One notable incident occurred on January 20, 2026, when 52-year-old Shraddha Agrawal of Bajpura, travelling from Bhopal to Mumbai, had her purse stolen while asleep on her sleeper berth.
The stolen items, including a gold chain, mangalsutra, a ring, and cash, were valued at Rs 35,000. The case was registered.
Using technical evidence and analysing nearly 200 kilometers of CCTV footage, GRP arrested Dixit on January 30, 2026. During interrogation, he admitted to committing theft in four separate cases, all involving gold jewellery.
