A team of Crime Branch busted a gang of thieves, who were trying to extend their nefarious activities by entering into sales of pistols in the city, and seized two firearms and plenty of live rounds. The cops attached to detection of house-breaking thefts got a tip-off that history-sheeter Shubham Jangle was in possession of a firearm. The anti-HBT team raided Jangle’s house where they could not locate the firearm, but found two live bullets. The swift action on Thursday led to busting of the gang by the Crime Branch before it could commit any serious crime. During questioning, Jangle named his friend to whom he had handed over the firearm.

One by one, the cops netted about four persons to whom the firearm was transferred. At the final location, the cops recovered two countrymade pistols, 4 magazines and 32 live rounds. The cops are trying to get to the bottom of this case as to how the guns got transferred from one person to another, and what was the intention of the quartet in keeping the firearms in their possession. Head Constable Prashant Gabhne got the information and they raided Jangle’s house in Lane no. 2, Shimshambhu Nagar, Bharatwada. As the firearm was not found during the house search, the cops grilled Jangle who named his friend Sagar Choudhary, with whom the firearm was kept for sale. The Crime Branch team took Shubham along and raided Choudhary’s house in Shivshambhu Nagar area in Kalamna area in search of the firearm. However, here too, the cops were in for disappointment which only deepened the mystery about the firearm. Upon questioning, Choudhary told the cops that as he could not find any buyer for the firearm, the same was handed over to one Shreyas Yadav.

The cops rounded up the two friends and took them to Yadav’s house in search of the firearm. Yadav’s house in Jam Nagar, Bharatwada, was raided by the Crime Branch team. But, here too, the cops could not find the firearm and now, Yadav was questioned and he said the firearm was handed over to Yash Sinha, a resident of Navin Nagar, Pardi. Finally, lady luck smiled on the cops as on seeing the cops on the door-steps, Yash brought out the bag handed over by Yadav. The plastic pouch contained two country-made pistols, 4 magazine and 32 live cartridges.

The cops took all the four to office and grilled them jointly wherein it emerged that Yadav brought the country-made pistol from his relative in Uttar Pradesh. Yadav was trying to make a fast buck by selling the country-made pistols in city, hoping to find a ready buyer for the firearms. The cost of each of the pistols was Rs 35,000. The action was taken by team of PI Dilip Chandan, API Nitin Chulpar, Nitin Tiwari, HC Prashant Gabhne, Ganesh Barde, Pravin Rode, Shrikant Uikey, Rajesh Thakur and constables Aman Raut and Sudhir Pawar. The total cost of recovered goods, including mobile handsets of the four youths, is pegged at Rs 1.76 lakh.
