Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh has permitted Congress MLA Kawasi Lakhma from Konta to participate in the Budget Session starting February 23, despite his bail status in the alleged liquor scam cases. Lakhma, a former excise minister, received interim bail from the Supreme Court on February 3 in corruption and money laundering probes linked to a Rs 2,161 crore scam during the prior Congress Government.

 

Lakhma must report his arrival and departure to the Assembly Secretariat and avoid visiting his Konta residence. He is required to maintain a ‘no speech” policy except for discussing non-case matters, remain present only during sessions, and face immediate permission revocation for non-compliance.
