Sadar Police form SIT to probe Std 12 paper leak

The Sadar Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the Std 12 Chemistry and Physics paper leak case. The action was taken on the instructions of Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal, following which Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Nityanand Jha constituted the team. The six-member SIT includes one Assistant Police Inspector (API), one Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), and four police personnel.

The team has been tasked with tracing the origin of the leaked question papers and identifying all persons involved. According to police, the incident came to light on February 18 during the Chemistry examination at St Ursula High School under Sadar Police Station limits. A class supervisor noticed that the question paper had reached a girl’s mobile phone around 10.30 am, before the exam began. The board officer later filed a complaint with Sadar Police. During the investigation, police arrested Nishikant Mool, director of Mool Academy, along with his associate Farman Fahim from Mankapur. The next day, Mustafa Khan Munir Khan, director of Excellence Academy in Mominpura, and his employee Junaid Mohammad Abdul Javed were also arrested. Police said Mustafa allegedly shared the Chemistry paper in a WhatsApp group named “Tech 1,” after which Junaid posted answers in the same group. Investigators suspect the paper was further circulated among students.

Deputy Commissioner Nityanand Jha said, “The SIT has been formed to ensure a professional and in-depth probe. We will trace the complete chain of the leak.” A senior police officer added, “While we have identified some links, the original source of the paper is still under investigation. We are examining possible connections between coaching classes and educational institutions.” Police said the probe will continue and more arrests may follow.

SIT to question more people in coming days

The formation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has expanded the scope of the case investigation. Investigators now suspect that some people connected with tuition classes and even certain Government officials, may be involved. At present, police have received important clues from Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis. During this analysis, several suspicious phone numbers linked to the suspects have surfaced. Based on these leads, the SIT will start its probe and is likely to question more people in the coming days.
