Crime Branch and Ranjhi police have solved a burglary case reported in Shobhapur area and arrested two accused. Police have recovered stolen gold and silver jewellery worth approximately Rs 13 lakh from them.
The accused have been identified as Suresh Chaudhary alias Surru (35), a resident of Baba Tola Thakkar Gram, Hanumantal and Jai Chaudhary (25), a resident of Sindhi Camp, Badi Madar Tekri, Hanumantal.
CSP, Ranjhi, Satish Kumar Sahu disclosed this while addressing a press conference on Friday.
He added that 72-year-old Martin Khakha, a retired Quality Control Department employee and resident of Shobhapur Green Colony, lodged a complaint
on January 10, 2026 that his youngest son locked the house on January 3, 2026 and left for their ancestral village in Chhattisgarh.
When the family returned on January 8, they found the
rear door latch broken and householditems scattered. Gold and silver ornaments kept in almirahs were found stolen. Following the complaint, police started investigation, scanned
CCTV footage, and identified suspects. Acting on credible information, a joint team of Crime Branch and Ranjhi Police detained the two accused for questioning. During interrogation, they confessed to committing the burglary on the night of January 6, 2026. They admitted to scaling the boundary wall, breaking the rear door lock with a screwdriver and stealing jewellery from the vacant house before dividing it between themselves.
On their identification, police recovered stolen items including four gold bangles, two necklaces, five rings, two bracelets, five pairs of earrings, two chains, one mangalsutra, one cross, two pairs of silver anklets, three pairs of toe rings and one silver bowl. The recovered property includes about 80 grams of gold and half a kilogram of silver. CSP Sahu added that both accused are habitual criminals as Suresh has 16 previous cases registered against him while Jai has four prior cases.
