Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Friday paid a soulful tribute to the legendary revolutionary leader Chandrashekhar Azad at his birthplace in Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar (Bhabhra) on the occasion of his death anniversary. To marking the visit, the Chief Minister dedicated 49 development projects worth over Rs 171 crore to the district of Alirajpur and announced the creation of a grand ‘Azad Park’ to preserve the martyr’s legacy.
In his address, Dr Yadav announced that Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar would be developed into a premier centre of inspiration for visitors from across the globe. A historic ‘Shahid Park’ (Martyr’s Park) will be constructed through the Department of Culture to provide a scenic and educational landmark.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the birthplace is not merely a location but a living symbol of national pride and self-respect, intended to acquaint future generations with Azad’s indomitable spirit and sacrifice.
Rs 171 crore infrastructure boost: The Chief Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several key projects: Sandipani School in Khandala at cost of Rs 34.20 crore: Projects worth approximately Rs 80 crore were opened to the public. These include the Sandipani School in Khandala built at a cost of Rs 34.20 crore, four high-level bridges under the PMGSY worth Rs 27.75 crore, and new primary health centres in Baledi and Nanpur.
35 new projects valued at Rs 119 crore: Dr Yadav laid the groundwork for 35 new projects valued at Rs 119 crore.
This includes Rs 40.58 crore for new hostels, Rs 31 crore for 11 new school buildings, and various irrigation tanks. A new Janpad Panchayat and community building in Sondwa were also part of this developmental push.
The ‘GIYAN’ resolution for farmers and women: Reiterating the state government’s focus on the ‘GIYAN’ philosophy, representing the welfare of the Poor (Garib), Farmers (Kisan), Youth (Yuva), and Women (Nari), the Chief Minister declared 2026 as the ‘Year of the Farmer.’ He shared that the Rs 1,800 crore Narmada Lift Irrigation Project is progressing rapidly and will soon provide water to 170 villages.
He further highlighted that the government continues to provide monthly financial aid of Rs 1,500 to women under the Ladli Bahna scheme and an annual honorarium of Rs 12,000 to eligible farmers. The Chief Minister took a moment to honour local tribal icons such as Baba Bhilat Dev and Shaheed Chhitu Kirad, stressing that the government is committed to bringing the stories of local heroes to the mainstream. He also mentioned new social security initiatives, including the ‘Rahveer Yojana’ for road accident victims and free coaching schemes for tribal students aspiring for Government services. The event concluded with the distribution of benefit certificates and bank loans to members of self-help groups and beneficiaries of various entrepreneurship schemes, signaling a new era of economic empowerment for Alirajpur.
