KUSHAGRA Paliwal and Anushka Deshpande emerged champions in the Nagpur District Under-11 & Under-15 Open and Girls Selection Chess Championship that concluded on Sunday. The event was organised by Chess Association Nagpur in association with GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation. Kushagra, Anushka won titles in the Under-15 Open and Girls sections respectively. The top performers will represent Nagpur district in the upcoming Maharashtra State Chess Championships in their respective age categories. Prizes were distributed by Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, CAN, FA Bharti Dhote (Chief Arbiter) and Akash Rewatkar.

 

The tournament carried a total cash prize fund of Rs 20,000 along with trophies. Chief Arbiter IA Shiva Iyer was assisted by FA Amit Tembhurne, SNA Prayas Amabde, SNA Akash Rewatkar, SNA Shyam Agrawal, SNA Shishir Indurkar, SNA Shrikant Bagde, Onkar Wankhede and Yashwant Reddy. RESULTS: (Top five in that order): Under-15 Open Section: Kushagra Paliwal, Rutam Yogesh Zanwar, Rudra Mahendra Dhole, Yuval Sunil Mohurle, Vishwaditya Awasthi. Under-15 Girls Section: Deshpande Anushka, Vritika Krushna Game, Divyanshi Khandelwal, Anvi Hirde, Abhaya Chaore. Under-11 Open Section: Mrudul Rajesh Tijare, Anvit Sontakke, Dhawal Rahul Deshmukh, Riaan Jham, Ridhaan Agrawwal. Under-11 Girls Section: Lavanya Shashank Mahadik, Swara Rahul Gandhi, Ayaanshi Nikhil Bhengade, Gargi Harkare, Anvika Ghodeswar.
