GVM, Ira in summit clash

 

 

 

GYAN Vidya Mandir (GVM) and Ira International stormed into final of the ongoing Keshavrao Madne Memorial Hockey Tournament at Tiger’s Gap ground Sadar. The final will be played on Thursday. In the girls semi-finals played on Tuesday, the players came out with some quality hockey. In a nail-biting first semi-finals, Gyan Vidya Mandir, Wadi beat Kids World School 1-0 in a high-intensity contest. Swara Pawar scored the only goal in 26th minute of second half.

 

Kids World created multiple circle entries in search of the equaliser but lacked the clinical edge to beat GVM defence. In second semis, Ira International School, Butibori demolished Swaminarayan School 6-0. Captain Maitree Thakare struck first in the 7th minute, followed by a quick-fire brace from Bhargavi Urkudkar (14th, 20th). Maithili Metkar (28th), Akshara Awari (31st) and Vedanti Bisen (38th) completed the rout. Wednesday’s fixture: (Boys semi-finals) St John’s High School vs Tidke Vidyalaya at 10:00 am; Madan Gopal High School vs Gyan Vidya Mandir, Wadi at 11:00 am.
