The Super Specialty Hospital at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College (NSCBMC), Jabalpur, has successfully performed a kidney transplant surgery on a 38-year-old male patient. The organ was donated by the patient’s wife. Prior to this intervention, the recipient had been undergoing long-term hemodialysis. It may be mentioned that the entirety of the medical procedure and subsequent care was provided free of charge under Ayushman Bharat Scheme. The complex procedure was executed through the coordinated efforts of a multidisciplinary medical team. Expertise was drawn from Urology, Nephrology, Anaesthesiology and Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) departments.

Proper pre-operative evaluations and intricate vascular anastomosis were completed with high technical proficiency. The success of the operation was further supported by the dedicated contributions of the transplant unit, operation theater staff, specialised dialysis and OT technicians. The hospital administration expressed formal gratitude to Dean Dr Navneet Saxena, Director Dr Avadhesh Kushwaha and Superintendent Dr Jitendra Gupta for their consistent guidance and logistical support throughout the process. This successful transplant served as a significant benchmark for public healthcare infrastructure. It demonstrated the capacity of Government medical colleges to deliver high-tier surgical interventions and highlighted the effective implementation of social welfare schemes designed to provide critical healthcare to the public.
