VIDARBHA is hosting a prestigious All India National Open Ranking Tournament at the institute of Engineers from Thursday.
The four-day tournament is one of the major tournaments in India’s bridge calendar and brings together a wide range of experienced players and upcoming talent from all over the country. The event holds significance as it is a ranking tournament and top players of the country would like to score ranking points to improve their all India rankings. Five top-ranked teams are eligible to represent India in international events.
This will be for the first time that VBA is hosting such a big national event. Around 250 bridge players from various States have already confirmed their participation. Technical conduct of the event will be handled by experienced directors from Bridge Federation of India (BFI).
A many as ten teams from Nagpur are participating in this mega event. Renowned players from Nagpur region like Rajeev and Himani Khandelwal, father and son duo of Basant and Anurag Mohota, S Chhajed, M Mor, S Roy, A Puranik, Anilkumar Mohota, father and son duo of Raja and Amit Rewatkar and Kumra brothers Neeraj and Sanjeev, who have consistently performed well in many events, are participating in this national event.
Attractive trophies and prizes will be awarded to all the winners in duplicate and pairs events. Inauguration will be done in auspicious presence of Ajay Sancheti, ex-Member of Rajya Sabha (MP), informed Anil Goenka, Chairman of the Organising Committee adding that more details would be revealed on Wednesday.
