Chhattisgarh is taking a major step towards strengthening eco-tourism and wildlife awareness with the upcoming launch of a jungle safari at the historically and ecologically significant Bhoramdeo Sanctuary in Kabirdham district. The initiative is aimed at promoting sustainable tourism while increasing public awareness about wildlife conservation and forest ecosystems. The jungle safari project has been prepared under the supervision of senior forest department officials. As part of the plan, an approximately 34-kilometre-long safari route has been developed inside the sanctuary area. The safari is expected to provide tourists with an opportunity to witness wildlife such as gaur, chital, sambar deer, bears and wild boar in their natural habitat. One of the unique highlights of the safari route is the Sakri River stretch, where tourists will cross the river multiple times during the journey. The safari route passes through dense forests of the Maikal mountain range, offering visitors a close experience of forest biodiversity and natural landscapes. The route is expected to become a major attraction for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers and nature tourists.

The forest department has also focused on ensuring strong local community participation in the project. The safari vehicles will be operated by the Thanwarjhol Forest Management Committee, which is expected to create employment opportunities for local villagers and help strengthen the rural economy of the region. The initiative is also expected to promote community-based forest conservation. Officials said the department is in the final stages of completing operational and safety preparations for the safari launch. Necessary arrangements related to tourist safety, vehicle operations, route management and monitoring systems are being finalised. With the launch of the jungle safari, tourists and devotees visiting Bhoramdeo will be able to experience wildlife tourism along with visiting the historically significant Bhoramdeo temple complex, often referred to as the Khajuraho of Chhattisgarh because of its ancient temple architecture. The upcoming safari is expected to strengthen the state’s eco-tourism circuit, attract more domestic and international tourists and contribute to wildlife conservation efforts while generating livelihood opportunities for local communities.
