Staff Reporter :
Pench Tiger Reserve administration team successfully rescued the two tiger cubs from agricultural land in Seoni and translocated them to Satpura Tiger Reserve. According to Pench Tiger Reserve, villagers informed the forest department of South Seoni Forest Division and Pench Tiger Reserve, Seoni, about the presence of two tiger cubs near a small temple located beside agricultural land in the revenue village of Gorakhpur. Upon receiving the information, forest officials immediately rushed to the spot.
Despite a curious crowd gathering, the team maintained control over the situation and conducted an inspection.
It was found that the two tiger cubs were approximately 7-8 months old, weak and in a fearful state.
They were in urgent need of care and attention.
Prioritising their safety and well-being, the forest team decided to rescue the cubs without tranquilising them. The cubs were safely rescued in two separate cages. They were then transported to the animal hospital at Pench Tiger Reserve in Khawasa.
The cubs were provided with adequate food and water and were placed under CCTV surveillance to monitor their condition. By the morning of February 3, both the cubs were found to be healthy and stable.
To prevent human imprinting and ensure their rewilding, the cubs were placed together in a transport cage and sent to Satpura Tiger Reserve.
The entire rescue operation was successfully carried out through coordinated efforts between the forest team and the veterinary staff, ensuring the safety and health of the tiger cubs.
