Jabalpur police have successfully dismantled a criminal group responsible for a significant burglary in the Chhapara region of Seoni district. The operation, led by the Crime Branch, resulted in the arrest of the primary suspect and the recovery of substantial quantities of stolen jewelry and currency.
Acting on precise intelligence provided by a confidential informant, the Crime Branch targeted Gulfam Khan (also known as Guddu), a resident of the Hanumantal locality. The informant indicated that Khan and his accomplices had returned to their residence following a criminal expedition in Seoni.
Upon being taken into custody, Khan confessed to executing a housebreaking offense between the night of January 28 and 29 in the Chhapara area. He identified his associates as Sahil Chaudhary, Faiz Khan, and Aifaz.
The investigation revealed that the suspects disposed of approximately 8 tolas (approx. 93 grams) of gold jewelry by selling it to Sarika Jewelers, located in the Kanchghar area. The remaining stolen items and cash were distributed among the group members.
Police officials have successfully seized 3 pairs of anklets, 06 silver bangles and 06 toe rings
(totaling approximately 300 grams), cash amounting to Rs. 1,28,00 from the primary suspect.
Following the recovery, the Chhapara Station House Officer, Hemendra Jaitwar, arrived to take custody of the accused. While Gulfam Khan remains in detention, his three accomplices namely Sahil Chaudhary, Faiz Khan, and Aifaz along with the proprietor of Sarika Jewelers, are currently reported as absconding.
Police have intensified their efforts to locate the remaining fugitives and finalize the recovery of the gold jewelry sold to the establishment in Kanchghar.
