Minimum temperature likely to dip in Eastern MP

Weather conditions across the State remained largely dry, though isolated rainfall was recorded in parts of Shahdol and Sagar divisions. Most other divisions experienced no rainfall, according to observations recorded at 8.30 am on Thursday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bhopal. Meanwhile, cold day conditions prevailed in Rewa, Satna and Damoh districts, with a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures, particularly over eastern parts of the State. Maximum temperatures fell appreciably by about 3.50 C in districts of Rewa division, while no significant change was observed across the remaining divisions. Day temperatures were appreciably below normal by 3.10 C to 4.50 C in Ujjain, Rewa and Sagar divisions, and below normal by 2.00 C to 2.60 C in Bhopal and Gwalior divisions. Elsewhere, temperatures remained near normal. Night temperatures also dipped in several regions. Minimum temperatures fell by 2.50 C to 3.30 C in districts of Gwalior, Chambal, Rewa and Sagar divisions.
 
However, minimum temperatures were above normal by 2.20 C to 2.30 C in Narmadapuram, Jabalpur and Shahdol divisions, while remaining normal in other parts of the State. Rajgarh recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the State at 7.00 C, followed by Rewa at 7.20 C and Mandsaur at 7.80 C. In contrast, Kannod in Dewas district reported the highest minimum temperature at 16.60 C. Rewa also remained the coldest during the day, registering a maximum temperature of just 190 C, while Khandwa recorded the highest maximum temperature in the State at 31.5 degrees Celsius. Fog conditions were reported across several districts, affecting visibility during late night and early morning hours. Dense fog was observed in Khajuraho (Chhatarpur), while moderate fog prevailed in Gwalior district. Shallow fog was reported from Datia and Satna districts.
 
MD has warned of dense fog at isolated places in Gwalior, Datia, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari, while moderate fog is likely in Bhind, Morena, Singrauli and Sidhi. Cold day conditions may continue at isolated places in Rewa, Mauganj, Satna, Panna, Maihar and Damoh. Highest rainfall in the past 24 hours was recorded at Badamlehra (3.6 mm), followed by Amarkantak (1.0 mm). No significant rainfall activity is expected in the coming day, with dry weather likely across all districts. For Bhopal and surrounding areas, the sky is expected to remain clear with light haze. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 250 C and 120 C respectively, with winds blowing at a speed of 10 - 12 kmph. IMD has indicated that there will be no major change in temperatures over western MP, while a slight fall in minimum temperatures is expected over eastern parts of the state over the next two days.
 
Meteorologists have advised people to remain cautious during foggy and cold conditions, especially during early morning travel, and to follow health and safety precautions. Farmers have also been advised to protect crops and livestock from cold stress and prolonged fog, ensure proper ventilation in animal shelters, and monitor fields for moisture, pests and disease.
