A sensational case of kidnapping and assault involving rival student groups surfaced in MP Nagar area of the State capital. Four students allegedly abducted a youth in a Scorpio SUV to avenge a previous physical altercation.
The victim saved his life by jumping from the moving vehicle and reaching the police station to lodge a complaint. According to ASI Dinesh Khajuria, the victim, identified as Abhishek Patel (23), is a resident of Bhopal and is currently preparing for UPSC examinations. Four accused—Suryansh Gautam, Priyansh Pandey, Aditya and Sahil—are also students residing in local hostels. Investigations revealed that roots of the incident lie in a previous clash where Aditya had allegedly assaulted Suryansh, for which a police case had already been registered.
Seeking retribution, Suryansh and his three associates tracked Abhishek to ‘Chai Sutta Bar’ in MP Nagar. The group forcibly pushed him into their Scorpio and sped away from the spot.
Assault filmed at secluded location: The abductors drove the victim to a deserted area near Gammon India, where they brutally assaulted him. To further humiliate and intimidate the victim, the accused reportedly filmed the assault on their mobile phones. The ordeal ended near Pragati Petrol Pump when Abhishek showed remarkable courage and leaped out of the moving car as the group was returning. Bleeding and injured, he rushed to MP Nagar Police Station to report the crime. MP Nagar Police immediately launched a blockade (Nakabandi). A special team tracked the getaway vehicle and after a brief chase, successfully intercepted the SUV and apprehended all the four accused. Scorpio used in the crime has been seized as evidence.
