The first meeting of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority was held in the meeting hall of the Public Works Department at the district headquarters in Durg, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. A detailed review was conducted of the major works approved under the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority, the approval of development works under construction from the authority’s funds and the provisioned budget, along with newly approved works. Discussions were also held on suggestions from the honorable public representatives. This was an important meeting regarding the status of schemes, services, and programmes being run for the welfare of the Other Backward Classes.
 
The main objective of the meeting was to assess the progress of the schemes being implemented for the social, economic, and educational upliftment of the backward classes community in State and to discuss future strategies. In the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed the various construction works and public welfare schemes being implemented under the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Development Authority. He gave clear instructions to ensure the timely and complete utilisation of the budget so that the benefits of development reach the beneficiaries directly. It is noteworthy that the main objective of the Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority is to directly involve local representatives in the rural development process. Short-term plans are to be formulated for the development of rural and urban panchayats in the state, based on consultations with regional leadership.
 
The Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority covers 35 assembly constituencies in the state. The works included in these areas encompass basic civic amenities, social and cultural activities, expansion of educational facilities, and expansion of health facilities. The Chhattisgarh State Rural and Other Backward Classes Area Development Authority primarily focuses on education and hostels.The meeting discussed improving the quality of education for students from backward classes. Instructions were given for upgrading hostels, maintaining existing OBC hostels in State and improving facilities there.
