The Jabalpur Municipal Corporation has achieved another significant milestone in the direction of cleanliness and environmental protection with successful operation of its Waste-to-Energy plant. The plant is playing a major role in making the city garbage-free while also contributing to energy self reliance by scientifically processing municipal waste and generating power. The Municipal Commissioner, Ramprakash Ahirwar inspected the plant along with senior officials and representatives of the operating company. During inspection, he closely reviewed functioning of the plant and observed entire process of power generation from waste. He directed the company to ensure round-the-clock operation of theplant so that the accumulated waste is disposed of swiftly and in a scientific manner.

The Waste-to-Energy plant has the capacity to incinerate around 800 tonnes of waste daily and generate 11.5 megawatts of electricity. Ahirwar said that waste is no longer a burden but a valuable resource, adding that the plant will prove to be a boon for the success of the city’s cleanliness campaign. During the visit, he also inspected the Material Recovery Facility, where waste is segregated into different categories, and the C&D plant, which manages construction and demolition waste. He further reviewed arrangements at the Dog House and examined the production of paver blocks and the reuse of non-recyclable plastic within the plant premises. The Municipal Commissioner instructed officials to maintain strict arrangements across the entire plant premises. He said cleanliness remains the top priority of the Municipal Corporation and any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
