After Vijay Shah, now the State’s Revenue Minister and MLA from Ichhawar Karan Singh Verma has stirred political atmosphere over his remark on Ladli Bahna. His statement has been taken as a threat to the beneficiaries.
On Thursday, the Minister said names of Ladli Bahnas absent from the meeting will be deleted from the list of beneficiaries that has triggered a row. Verma was speaking at the inaugural function of a health centre at Dhamanda village in Ashta Tehsil.
The Minister said he will ask to the executive officer to call all Ladli Bahnas of the village and to delete names of those who would be absent from the list. The Government is providing financial aid worth Rs 1,500 a month to 894 Ladli Bahnas in Dhamanda village, he said. He wanted to know how many Ladli Bahnas out of 894 were present in the meeting.
Highlighting the Centre’s and State Government’s initiatives, he said wheat is being sent to every house from Delhi because of the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and a sum of Rs 1,500 is transferred to the accounts of Ladli Bahnas every month, he said, adding that the Congress never gave a single penny to women.
It seems he was annoyed with the absence of crowd at his function. Reacting sharply over his statement, the Opposition members said BJP is disrespecting public.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition Umang Singhar also criticised the Government on this issue, saying that it exposes BJP’s anti-women mindset. He said that the true picture of BJP’s so-called good governance is being revealed by its own ministers through their statements.
He also demanded that Karan Verma should publicly apologise to all the women of the State.
Several leaders from grand old party in the State questioned whether the BJP considers public to be its slaves and whether it wants to turn them into party workers by giving them money through Government schemes.”
