CIMCON’26 will feature Rahul Pande, Chief Information Commissioner of Maharashtra and one of the youngest to hold this esteemed constitutional position. Known for his decisive leadership, administrative efficiency, and commitment to transparency, Pande has made a significant impact in strengthening the functioning of the State Information Commission across Maharashtra.
Pande previously served as State Information Commissioner at the Nagpur Bench, covering the Nagpur revenue division of six districts in east Vidarbha. In addition, he was entrusted with the additional charge of the Amravati Bench, covering five districts of west Vidarbha, and the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Bench, which has jurisdiction over the entire Marathwada region. From November 2022 to May 2023, he handled all three benches simultaneously, covering Vidarbha and Marathwada in their entirety. During this period, his disposal rate was exceptionally high, resulting in a substantial reduction in pendency across all benches.
ver a three-year tenure, Pande disposed of more than 26,000 cases, delivering reasoned and well-structured orders that largely withstood judicial scrutiny. He also took a keen interest in the digitisation of State Information Commission records and in strengthening coordination between benches, contributing to greater institutional efficiency and accessibility.
Prior to joining the Information Commission, Pande served as City Editor of The Hitavada, Nagpur, bringing with him a strong understanding of public issues and citizen-centric governance.
At CIMCON’26, Pande will deliver a session on “Nuisance Management,” where he will discuss the Right to Information (RTI) as a powerful instrument for identifying, preventing, and resolving disturbances that affect individuals, institutions, and business operations. His session promises practical insights into how transparency, accountability, and informed engagement can lead to more orderly and effective systems.
