Tightening noose on illegal sand mining in river beds, combine team of Revenue, Police and Mining Departments conducted raids at several potential spots. During the drive, teams seized three tractor trolleys loaded with illegal stock of sand and destroyed the path constructed for illegal sand mining.
On the instructions of Collector Raghavendra Singh, a district-wide drive was conducted to curb illegal sand mining and transportation. As part of the operation, all SDMs, along with police and mining department teams, carried out inspections in their respective subdivisions to check unauthorised excavation and transport of sand.
In the Sihora area, three tractor-trolleys were seized after being found illegally transporting sand.
Besides this, inspections
were conducted at river ghats in Deori, Khirahani, Ghorakoni and Madha areas, where routes commonly used for sand theft were destroyed to prevent further illegal activities.
Under the leadership of the SDM Shahpura, action was taken in villages Bhadpura, Sheetalpur and Malkachhar. Illegal excavation and transportation routes from the river were demolished and sand heaps lying on the riverbanks were pushed back into the river to stop unauthorised collection.
As per the directions of the SDM Kundam, inspections were carried out at the Kalyanpur and Ranipur ghats, where illegal access routes were also destroyed. In the Shahpura area, around 100 Hyva loads of sand that had been illegally stockpiled in village Bhadpura were destroyed.
The joint teams of the Revenue, Mining and Police departments played a key role in the successful execution of the operation.
