In a remarkable example of cleanliness and innovation, the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has transformed a long neglected garbage dumping spot into a lively playground within just 10 hours. The site, located in front of Hawa Mahal in Wright Town, was earlier known as an old conservancy area filled with waste and foul smell.
Under a special cleanliness drive, the JMC’s sanitation team carried out an intensive drive and cleared the entire area in record time. Within nearly 10 hours, the accumulated garbage was removed, the ground was levelled and the space was converted into a clean and usable playground.
The transformation has been widely appreciated by local residents, who termed it as a striking example of how effective civic action can change the face of a neighbourhood.
The place that once remained surrounded by garbage and unpleasant odour has now turned into a space where children can play and residents can gather for community activities. To celebrate the change, local residents organised a unique event at the newly prepared ground.
Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash Ahirwar was present at the site along with the sanitation team. Appreciating the efforts of the team, locals expressed gratitude to the Municipal Corporation for bringing such a positive change to the area. Ahirwar said the initiative was not merely a cleanliness drive but also an important innovation under the Swachh Survekshan campaign. He added that the Municipal Corporation aims to identify similar neglected spaces in the city and convert them into useful public areas for the benefit of residents.
