On the intervening night of March 9-10, a speeding car collided with a bike coming from opposite direction, killing all four young men sitting in the bike on the spot and injuring the occupants of the car. The accident occurred on National Highway 43 under the jurisdiction of Badwara police station. The car and motorcycle collided head-on near the railway culvert. According to police, the four young men were going from Katni to Umaria. At the Chaphani turning near Jagatpur Umaria village, a bike and a car collided head-on. The speeding car bearing no MP 13 CC 4342 was coming from Umaria. The impact of the collision was so severe that the bike was completely mangled. After hitting, the car dragged the bike for more than 50 meters. The sound of the collision was so powerful that nearby villagers and passersby immediately gathered at the scene. Following the accident, the National Highway was blocked for an hour. Upon receiving the information, Badwara police station and 108 emergency vehicles arrived at the scene.
 
With the help of local residents, the police immediately shifted all four bike riders to the Badwara Community Health Centre, where doctors declared them dead. The deceased have been identified as Dhirendra Singh (18), Ramkishore Singh (26), Ramdas Singh (18), and Indrabhan Singh (25), all residents of Manpur police station area of Umaria. According to information received, one of the deceased from Manpur had come to Katni on his motorcycle to pick up three other relatives, who had returned from Maharashtra where they were working as labourers. All the four were returning to Manpur on the bike while five people in the car were returning to Rajgarh. Those sitting in car include Sampat Bai, Sonu Amar Singh (22), Madan Lal Singa (62), Kailash Ramesh Tewar (25), and Prem Vanshilal Singh (36), were seriously injured, all residents of Rajgarh. The injured had gone to visit their relatives in Anuppur. After receiving first aid, they were referred to the district hospital due to their critical condition. Police have detained the car driver, who sustained minor injuries, and filed a case of negligent driving against him. The four bodies have been kept at Badwara Hospital for post mortem. Eyewitnesses informed that the bike rider and three pillions were moving in high speed and were not wearing helmets.
