The Food and Civil Supplies Department team carried out a surprise inspection at a gas agency — Domestic Gas and Appliances — in Jaripatka area on Wednesday following complaints about delays in delivery of domestic gas cylinders.
The officials reached the agency in the morning and started checking records and actual stock of LPG cylinders at the office and warehouse.
They verified whether the number of LPG cylinders mentioned in the records matched with the actual stock available at the agency.
During the inspection, officials compared the number of LPG cylinders available in the morning, the bookings received during the day, the cylinders distributed to customers and the remaining stock at the time of inspection.
Citizens complained
about waiting time
In the past few days, many customers had complained about delayed delivery of domestic LPG cylinders in several parts of Nagpur. Citizens said that they had to wait for many days even after booking cylinders, which caused inconvenience to households.
Following the complaints, the Department conducted inspection to check whether the agency was distributing LPG cylinders according to the bookings and whether any irregularities such as hiding or diverting the stock were taking place.
The officials also checked office records, computer data and distribution documents. LPG cylinders at the warehouse were physically counted to confirm whether the number matched with the records.
Officials warned that strict action would be taken if any discrepancy is found between the records and the actual stock or if the agency is not supplying LPG cylinders to customers as per the rules.
