ARADHYA Jhariya missed out on a well-deserved third successive century in as many matches but helped Royal Cricket Association ‘A’ record another big victory in the ongoing Under-14 Inter-Academy Cricket Tournament organised by Vidarbha Cricket Association.
With an unbeaten double century (240) against Reshimbagh Gymkhana ‘B’ which was followed by an undefeated 177 against Karnewar Cricket Association in their opening game, Jhariya continued in the same vein in their third match against Government Polytechnic at the latter’s ground hitting 95 from 63 deliveries as RCA ‘A’ posted a mammoth 396 for seven in 50 overs in their Group C match.
The 14-year-old right-handed opener Jhariya, who is leading the batter’s chart with 512 runs, hit 15 boundaries and a six in his 63-ball knock before he was trapped in front by Shubh Nimsarkar in the 21st over.
Mohd Anas Khan (82; 68b, 8x4), Yash Patel (67; 48b, 8x4, 1x6) and Maan Pooja (45; 27b, 5x4) were the other notable scorers for RCA ‘A’. For Government Polytechnic, Tanish Waghwani took two wickets. In reply, Government Polytechnic were bundled out for 61 in 28.4 overs.
Only Opener Devansh Niwane (16) and Malik Thakur (18) managed to score in double digits.
RCA ‘A’ captain Gurusahaj Khubnani took five wickets for 23 runs in 9.4 overs and Abdul Rahim Khan took three.
